My options for my wedding lashes. A pair of brown, lushious lashes to widen my eyes early in the morning.img_12621image0711

For the evening, a pair of lashes that lengthened my eyes, giving me a cat-eyes look.

When you are having a photo-shoot for a big occasion such as a wedding, always remember to put on some fake lashes so as to accentuate your eyes. To complete the morning/evening look, use an eyeliner similar to the lash colour and go over the lash line. Apply a softer or lighter eyeliner under the eyes.

Tips on fake lashes:
1) There are soft lashes and hard lashes. Soft lashes are more for professionals and if you want a natural look. Hard lashes are easier to put on because the lash line is thicker and harder.
2) Cross cross lashes looks more pleasing to the eyes. If you have big and fierce looking eyes, avoid lashes that is straight and extends forward.
3) Lashes cost $2.90 – $40 a pair.
4) Curl lashes and apply mascara -> Cut fake lash to fit length of lash line -> Glue while eyes are closed. Hold it there -> Open eyes and apply mascara if necessary -> Draw eyeliner.

Thanks for your patience for me to come update my blog. This is an article from my upcoming Ebook. Thanks Lani for reminding me to write regularly.

Q: My eyelashes are barely visible. Should I do something to them ?

A: If you prefer synthetic fibre, you can opt for lash extension which is very popular in the market. The down side is that you have to be very careful when you wash the area around your eyes. It is not recommended that we apply mascara on the lashes because removing the mascara (especially water-proof ones) would cause your precious extension and your natural lashes to drop!

The other way which requires a bit of skill on your part is to put on fake lashes. Applying sufficient amount of glue is important and selecting a suitable pair for that occasion is another. A luxurious pair of lashes would match a glamourous look. If can wee too heavy (especially those that you can buy in a pair and off the rack) for some and look rather akward for those with small eyes. Alternatively choose a pair which gives you a natural look. Always trim away any excess at the ends so that your eyes would not look droopy and would fit nicely on the lids. Fit them as close to the lash line as possible. After which gently remove any excess glue and apply eyeliner if you want a dramatic look. I learnt a technique from my school, if you want thicker lashes, you can pile them up. That means you can use 2 pair of natural lashes that are neatly trimmed on the same eye to achieve a similar dramatic effects! I had that for my wedding and for the 1st pair, they kept it at it’s natural length, extending forward. The second pair, she snipped away the extension and made it similar to the length of my natural lashes. So smart of her!
After removing the lashes at the end of the day, you can choose to recycle or just toss them away. Please refrain from using than twice for more natural and lighter fibre. They would not stick after a while. I have seen some friends using the thicker and more plastic lashes more than 5 times. For hygiene purposes I do not recommend that. Use soapy water to remove the glue and pat dry.

image027 You can simply enlarge the photograph and notice very clearly that the eye with the mascara simply lit up your eyes and also help to lift droppy lids. The closer you apply the mascara to your lash line, it will act more like an eye liner. I shall try apply different mascara and different number of coats for all to see.
